Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague insists Manchester Untied have a good chance of signing Antoine Griezmann if Diego Simeone leaves this summer.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with reports claiming he’d been keen on a move under Jose Mourinho.
However, Atletico are in a good financial position where they can keep hold of their players and if Simeone decides to stay, the club will not be looking to sell any of their star assets.
Speaking about the situation, Balague claims Atletico will only consider a huge offer.
“My understanding is Griezmann is happy with life under Diego Simeone and rejected approaches from both United and City last summer,” he said.
“However, Atletico will consider a huge offer and United are still interested.
“What can be said for sure is Griezmann has not signed for anyone at this stage.
“This year at Atletico he has already played in six different positions
“Mourinho could use him on the flanks knowing he will track back.
“He can also use him as a striker partner for Ibrahimovic, or as a lone striker.
“It will take a huge offer and there is no guarantee he will agree to leave the Vincente Calderon.”
Reports claim United are looking to offer him the beloved No.7 shirt after he opened up about his love for David Beckham as a child.
It’d be incredible to see him alongside Paul Pogba at Old Trafford and one can trust that Mourinho understands the situation, espcially after his brilliant signings in the summer transfer window.
