Zlatan Ibrahimovic gives Anthony Martial a pep talk on his Man United career

Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled Anthony Martial aside last month and told him his Manchester United career would benefit from ignoring outside influences, according to the Telegraph.

His pep talk with the Frenchman came after his agent, Philippe Lamboley, had linked him with a loan move to Sevilla, leaving Jose Mourinho insisting the 21-year-old should not listen to his representative.

Although he’s been frustrated with his situation at Old Trafford, after being dropped for the Premier League game at Stoke City last Saturday and Thursday’s EFL Cup tie away to Hull City, the Telegraph’s James Ducker claims he’s determined to emerge a stronger player.

He’s said to be receptive to Ibrahimovic and Mourinho’s messages and there’s no doubt that once he gets his head down and works hard, will be an incredible player under the Portuguese boss, building on his brilliant debut campaign.

Ibrahimovic’s intervention with Martial showcases his influence on the squad at Old Trafford and Mourinho is the right man to guide him forward, especially with the Henrikh Mkhitaryan situation earlier this season.

The Portuguese boss has confirmed he’ll recall Martial for the visit of Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, insisting he’d play again if he produces the goods, and Martial will be looking to fight for his place in the side by tearing apart Wigan.
