Jose Mourinho has urged Manchester United’s board to complete the signing of Benfica defender Vitor Lindelof or AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko before the end of the January transfer window, according to the Times.
Man United were in brilliant form earlier in the campaign with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo performing miracles in the centre of defence during Eric Bailly’s absence at the Africa Cup of Nations and the need for a new defender was reduced.
Duncan Castles writes that Mourinho’s main preference would be to acquire the services of France under-21 international Bakayoko.

It would be great to have either of them at United, but with the transfer window closing within the next coming days it doesn’t seem like a deal would be possible, especially as both clubs were pushing towards a summer move.
It’s brilliant to see that Mourinho is always looking to improve the squad as it’s the right mentality to have at United where the Portuguese boss is only looking to recruit the best of talents.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly following Mourinho to United without Champions League football to offer, there’s no doubt that he won’t have any difficulties attracting big targets.
