Man United sign Legia Warsaw’s scouting director Radoslaw Kucharsk

Manchester United have signed Legia Warsaw’s director of scouting Radoslaw Kucharsk to bolster our scouting network across Eastern Europe.

Kucharsk worked with Legia Warsaw for a decade but has now made the move to join Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff and his appointment is the latest in a string of new arrivals in our scouting network.

Speaking about his time at Legia on their official website, Kucharsk thanked the club for the opportunity. He said: “The time I spent at Legia Warsaw was a great time but the time has come to take a step forward. I am grateful to all of whom I have worked with during this time, especially the president Bogusław Leśnodorski, so that I could scout at Legia.”

Kucharsk will join up with United on 1 February and revealed conversations to join actually began in the summer. He added: “It is a great honour that Manchester United were interested in me. I treat it primarily as an appreciation of our shared and my personal work scouting here at Legia, of which I am particularly proud of.

“Legia is a great club, a place where I evolved on many levels – both as an employee and as a person. Talks with Man United about a possible co-operation took place from June and I will finally join United on 1 February.

“I would like to thank the whole club, closest associates, players, coaches, and especially the President Leśnodorskiemu for entrusting me as head of scouting in one of the top football clubs in this part of Europe.”

Kucharsk is the latest appointment in what has been a widespread set of changes to our scouting network by Mourinho. Just like Sir Alex Ferguson did when he joined, Mourinho is refreshing and breathing new life into our network as a whole.

Here is a list of other appointments Mourinho has made to bolster our scouting network so far:

Henny de Regt: Former Ajax scout brought in to help with academy recruitment under Nicky Butt.
Roland Janssen: Former chief scout of Genk, responsible for finding Kevin de Bruyne.
Ronnie Cusick: Former Manchester City academy scout
Dave Harrison: Former Manchester city academy scout
Lyndon Tomlinson: Former Manchester City academy scout
Mark Anderson: Former Brighton scout responsible for recruitment in the South of England
Roy Beukenkamp: Former goalkeeper for Dutch side Gronigen, scout in Holland

Mourinho is making his house a home at Old Trafford. With all of these appointments he then has a scouting network he trusts and as he showed with Eric Bailly in the summer, a player hardly any United fan knew of, that network is more than capable of finding gems.

United’s scouting network has needed re-invigorating for some time now and Mourinho is most certainly doing that. It puts us in an excellent position heading towards the summer transfer window as Mourinho continues to mould and develop this United squad until he has exactly what he wants at every level including our academy teams under Nicky Butt.
