Manchester United forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan has labelled Juan Mata as world-class after he found the back of the net against Leicester City.
Jose Mourinho’s men closed the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League by just two points after claiming all three points from a 3-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.
Goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and Mata saw Man United bounce back from their 0-0 draw to Hull City earlier in the week, where they had failed to move ahead of their rivals.
Speaking about his teammate, Mkhitaryan insisted he has built up a great understanding with the Spaniard on the pitch.
“He’s a world-class player,” he said.
“I knew that if I controlled that ball, he has to open up himself in the space and that’s what happened. I just played it there because I knew that he was going to be there and he scored a nice goal.”
Mata has been brilliant at United this season and before Mkhitaryan was re-introduced to the side, he was by far our best performer.
He’s often been left on the bench, but Mourinho needs to find a place for him in the starting XI because he always manages to produce a moment of magic with his brilliant performances.
