Antoine Griezmann reveals major doubts over Premier League transfer

Antoine Griezmann has revealed doubts over a potential move to the Premier League in the future.

Manchester United are interested in signing the Atletico Madrid forward if he becomes available, with reports claiming they have already agreed a deal in principle to meet his £85m release clause.

He’s under contract at the Vicente Calderon until 2021 after signing an extension last year and claims he’s focused on finishing the campaign in brilliant form under Diego Simeone.

Speaking about a potential move, Griezmann has explained why he may not chose a move to England.

“With Real Sociedad, I felt that I needed to leave. For the moment, I do not have that need or desire,” he said.

“Who knows how the season will finish. If it finishes badly, maybe I will ask myself the question. For the moment, it is not relevant.

“I am asking myself where I could go. In Spain, there is Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“Barcelona have the three [Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez] up top. Real Madrid, that is impossible because of the club I am at. I think that between them, there is a pact [not to conduct transfers between the clubs].

“Germany, the league does not attract me much. France, not for the moment.

“And England, I have a lot of doubts about my private life. Everything like rain, bad weather… I need to feel happy outside.”

Griezmann would only leave Atletico if Simeone decides to take his services elsewhere in the summer, but United are unlikely to be the only club interested in his signature.

He’s a massive talent and there’s a good chance if Jose Mourinho has the Frenchman in his sights, then we could see him in a United shirt, because he’s very effective at brining in the players he wants, as we’ve seen from his first transfer window at the club.
