Proof Andreas Pereira’s Granada loan move has been a big success

It is a well-known fact that loan moves, almost as a rule of thumb, never really help anybody.

Recent examples include Wilfried Zaha’s move to Cardiff, Adnan Januzaj‘s spell at Borussia Dortmund, and basically any spell for James Wilson over the past two years.

But Andreas Pereira, loaned to Granada back in August, has proven to be an exception to the rule, producing a series of performances hallmarked by flair, speed and confidence in La Liga.

The video below demonstrates just how much the Brazilian, who has netted three goals this season, has improved since moving to Spain over the summer.

Ask yourselves this: would Pereira be doing that as a bit-part presence in Mourinho’s first team? He has received a unlikely new lease of life at Granada, blessed with the opportunity to explore his own game, to express himself, learning something new after each defeat.

You wouldn’t think by watching the video that Pereira is playing for a side with just one La Liga win all season. Sending promising youngsters abroad to a side that essentially loses every week would, one suspects, send them into a confidence mire, but the reverse has happened with the 20-year-old, who now takes to the field with a new veneer of determination that could be crucial to his chances in Mourinho’s first team over the summer.
