Paul Scholes: Jose Mourinho should play Bastian Schweinsteiger at Man United

Paul Scholes claims Jose Mourinho should play Bastian Schweinsteiger more often at Manchester United, insisting fans love to watch the special player in action.

He was exiled from the first-team by Jose Mourinho last summer and has found first-team opportunities extremely difficult to come by this season.

The German international has not featured at all in the Premier League campaign this term and has only featured now and then in Man United’s cup matches, as Mourinho’s men are fighting for silverware on four fronts.

Speaking about the midfield maestro, Scholes insists he’s a huge fan of what Schweinsteiger has to offer Man United.

“It’s strange to hear about Jose Mourinho and Schweinsteiger but I find it remarkable how highly professional Bastian has responded by simply working without complaining,” he said.

“Schweinsteiger can still control a game if you let him, and I hope the manager lets him. The fans love Bastian; he’s a very special player.”

He was included in United’s Europa League squad, but was not part of the team that faced St Etienne on Thursday evening.

Schweinsteiger has an incredible work ethic and continued to work hard even though he had been excluded from the squad, and as Scholes has said, it would be nice to see him back in action at Old Trafford.
