Jose Mourinho has backed Marcus Rashford to enjoy an amazing future at Manchester United following his 50th appearance for the club.
He’s had an incredible rise to prominence since his senior debut against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on February 25 last year, playing a massive impact for England and enjoying a first-team role at Old Trafford.
While he was playing upfront last season, scoring seven goals in the back end of the campaign, he’s been forced to play out wide this campaign with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line, but he’s dealt with the situation brilliantly and has continued to work hard.
Speaking about the Englishman, Mourinho is certain his time will come.
“Last season was the season of surprise,” Mourinho said.
“Nobody knew him, he came and his impact was tremendous. This has been a difficult season in relation to that.
“But this is a season of growing up, being stable, strong, physically strong, mentally strong, tactically strong, he is playing in almost every match, sometimes starting and coming from the bench.
“It’s been a great experience for him. He is a 19-year-old boy and, obviously, he has an amazing future.”
I still remember the day he made his debut, the mood was ill after Anthony Martial picked up an injury in the warm up ahead of the game and Rashford was a name not many supporters were familiar with.
However, you could tell he was destined for something special from the moment the game kicked off, as he showcased his talent with a brace in the Europa League, followed by a brace against Arsenal later in the week.
It’s hard to believe he’s only at the start of his career, but it’s scary to think about how good he can go on to become, especially with some guidance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
