Manchester United could still sell Wayne Rooney before the close of the Chinese Super League transfer window this month, according to reports.

Several Chinese clubs are said to be chasing his services as there is still a chance a deal could be met before their transfer window closes a week on Tuesday.

The Englishman has reportedly received offers in excess of £32 million a year, with United set to command a substantial fee for the 31 year-old as he still has 18 months left on his £300,000-a-week contract.

Telegraph’s James Ducker believes the commercial value behind signing Rooney, who is the all-time leading scorer for his club and country, would be the biggest factor to represent the expanding game in Asia.

Rooney hasn’t featured much after breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s long-standing record at Man United as there are other players that have more to offer the side, but as Paul Scholes has recently stated, the Englishman will be driving himself up a wall after being continuously left on the bench.

There are doubts over whether he’d move to China, especially as he’s been earning Premier League wages at the top level since he was a youngster breaking onto the scene.

He may wish to keep close to family after leaving Old Trafford, but there won’t be many clubs willing to match the offers from Chinese clubs.
