Rio Ferdinand: Michael Keane could follow after Paul Pogba and return to Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand believes Michael Keane could follow after Paul Pogba and return to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

He left Old Trafford two years ago to join Burnley, where he’s become a big star after being sent on loan by both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes.

After leaving Man United to join Juventus, Pogba has enjoyed a remarkable return which has seen him become the world’s most expensive player.

Speaking about the situation, Ferdinand insists it would be a good time for him to make his Man United return.

“I think the moment he found out he was going to leave Manchester United – every kid’s dream in that area is to play for Manchester United – so to leave the club was a huge wrench for him,” he said.

“But it allowed him to go and spread his wings and bloom really and become the player he is now. At Manchester United he wasn’t afforded that opportunity, for whatever reason.

“You look at the likes of Pogba; he’s gone away and come back now and become a huge star. Michael Keane, he could do that himself.”

He has blossomed under the guidance of Sean Dyche and has been playing a key role in the club’s battle against relegation, landing Keane a spot in the England squad earlier this term.

To show the extent of his rise, he’s now been mntioned as a potential summer transfer target for both Everton and Chelsea, with fees in excess of £15million mooted.
