Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney was back in training ahead of the Europa League tie at Saint-Etienne.
Jose Mourinho was unsure if the Englishman would be fit enough to return when he spoke after Sunday’s FA Cup win at Blackburn, but his inclusion in the squad is a step in the right direction.
Of course, it’s unclear whether he’ll be included in the team heading to France and we’ll only be able to tell when the squad is officially announced this afternoon.
Here are a few pictures of him back in training on Tuesday afternoon.
He’s been left sidelined as the Times claim he’s considered a doubt for Man United’s League Cup final against Southampton on Sunday as he is still struggling to overcome a muscular injury.
Even if he does return to full fitness, there are doubts over whether we’ll see him in action anyway as he’s endured a lesser role since the start of the season, losing his automatic starter status for club and country.
There’s still a chance he could move to China before the end of the month but it’s highly unlikely and if he does decide to take his services elsewhere, it’ll most likely be in the summer transfer window.
