Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United at the end of the season – report

Wayne Rooney wants to stay at Manchester United until the end of the season to help Jose Mourinho’s side fight for silverware, according to multiple sources.

ESPN and BBC claim he’s hoping to stay involved with the team as they fight for trophies on four fronts before he considers a move to China.

The 31-year-old has been subject of intensifying speculation during the latter stages of his career, as he’s endured a reduced role, losing his starter status for both club and country.

He was left out of the squad once again for Wednesday’s Europa League round-of-32 second leg tie against St Etienne in France.

Rooney has been heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline in China, as he’s said to be offered a deal in the region of £3 million a month.

Jose Mourinho also added uncertainty to his future by saying he was unable to confirm if he would remain a United player, simply stating he did not want the Englishman to leave.

While he’s received limited first-team opportunities in recent weeks, injuries have also contributed to his long absence from the action.

He deserves to be playing first-team football, and should Rooney decide to take his services elsewhere, he deserves nothing but the utmost respect.
