Manchester United 1-1 Bournemouth: Player Ratings

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea 6 – Couldn’t stop that penalty from Josh King, it was a cracker.

Antonio Valencia 6 – Caused lots of problems for Bournemouth down the right in the first half. In the second, wasn’t decisive enough for me.

Marcos Rojo 6.5 – The most unlikely of first goalscorers for Man United today. The better of United’s centre-backs today but that isn’t saying much…

Phil Jones 4 – Looked off the pace and wasn’t a surprise to see him give away a penalty in the first half. Sloppy tackle, poor.

Luke Shaw 7.5 – In the first half he won a crunching 50/50 and got up quickly from a bad tackle on him. That’s a big step in the right direction. Excellent return overall, well done Luke.

Michael Carrick 6 – Helped control the game as always but the game overlooked him quite a bit.

Paul Pogba 5.5 – His blistering pace in the first half was superb for the chance. Some of his through balls were wonderful too. Second half? Not so much, thought he overcomplicated it with Bournemouth sitting deep. Not his best. That chance at the end? Comical.

Juan Mata 6.5 – Not sure he was involved much at all in that first 45 minutes, didn’t seem like it anyway. One of the only players who didn’t let the occasion get the better of him with all the events on it.

Wayne Rooney 6 – Like Ibrahimovic he missed a couple of chances in the first half. Wasn’t too surprising to see him go off to bring in more energy.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic 5 – Missed a gilt edged chance in the first half but the talking point in the first half was his altercation with Mings who stamped on his head and was swiftly elbowed as a consequence.

Anthony Martial 6 – Was twisting the blood of Bournemouth’s right-back Smith. Created plenty of chances.

Subs

Jesse Lingard 6 – De nada.

Marcus Rashford 6 – Helped bring pace to the wings but Bournemouth sat so deep there was no space behind.

Marouane Fellaini 5 – Slowed the game down too much playing in a deep role.
