Daley Blind and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both set to start for Manchester United tonight against FC Rostov.
Jose Mourinho confirmed Ibrahimovic would play against Rostov in his pre-match discussion and as Blind was alongside him in that same press conference, he’ll also start after Mourinho previously said any player who sits with him in that situation will start the next game.
With Luke Shaw left in Manchester, Blind is likely to slot in at left-back. He’s the best alternative we’ve got to Shaw and on the awful pitch in Russia, he’s better suited because he is likely to slow the game down when he’s in possession. The last thing United need right now and injuries so Mourinho will want his players to control the tempo of the game and stay in complete control.
As for Ibrahimovic, he will more than likely play the full 90 minutes as he starts his three match ban immediately after and will therefore not be able to play again for United until April 4 against Everton, other than the return leg with FC Rostov next week.
Who else will feature? Mourinho made it clear his mind isn’t made up yet due to the condition of the pitch leading to concerns over whether Henrikh Mkhitaryan should be brought back into action but we’ll have the full team news at 17:00GMT and will bring you that as soon as it is released.
