Manchester United have injury crisis ahead of FA Cup clash with Chelsea

Manchester United will be without Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for Monday night’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea.

Rooney picked up an injury during training, Martial is also ruled out through injury and Rashford is ill so Jose Mourinho won’t have a recognised striker in his squad at Stamford Bridge.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out due to suspension, Man United are going to have to beat Chelsea without a striker and seeing as we have won away to Chelsea less than five times in the 21st century, it’s not the best news for United in a game where we were already going to be the underdogs.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is probably the most likely option to start up front if Mourinho wants to have any sort of pace in attack. One thing is for sure – our counter-attacking threat looks a lot less rosy without Rashford and Martial in the team. I suspect Jesse Lingard will get the nod and he of course scored at Stamford Bridge last year but not having Rashford, Martial, Ibrahimovic or Rooney for this game is unquestionably a crisis.

Beating Chelsea was never going to be easy, doing it without a striker makes it even harder.
