Eric Bailly opens up about his future at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho

Eric Bailly insists he was unable to say no to a move to Manchester United because of the presence of Jose Mourinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

He completed his move to Old Trafford last summer and with such big names at Man United, he claims it was the right time to make a switch to the Premier League.

The Ivorian has been incredible at Man United and despite a quick start to his career under Mourinho, he suffered knee ligament damage last October, but has since returned to top form, working his way back into the side.

Speaking about his move, Bailly believes it was the right as decision he’s already featured in 27 games for United in all competitions.

“I was at a good Spanish club in Villarreal, but when a team as prestigious as Manchester United makes you an offer it is hard to say no,” he said.

“That is despite the fact I had not planned to leave Villarreal so soon, and I knew I would get less playing time at United. But I knew that I would improve under a coach like Mourinho, and with teammates such as Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata.

“They are players who have won lots of trophies but are still hungry for more. They are true examples of professionalism, and I draw great inspiration from them.

“And despite everything I have played 27 games for United in all competitions. I meet up with Yaya Toure on rare occasions, and we are in contact with one another. He gives me advice. Didier Drogba and Wilfried Bony do so as well, and the advice I get from them all is invaluable.”

Bailly has quickly worked his way into a fan favourite at Old Trafford even though he arrived at the club as a relatively unknown talent at the time of his transfer.

Hopes are he can continue to work hard on himself as the 22-year-old is only at the start of his career and can go on to achieve great things.
