Manchester United fans react to news of Romelu Lukaku rejecting Everton deal

Manchester United fans have expressed their excitement following news of Romelu Lukaku’s disagreement with Everton over a new contract heading into the summer transfer window.

It was recently reported that Lukaku had reached an impasse with Everton after the Toffees refused to include a buy-out clause of less than £90m in his new contract.

Mourinho, who sold Lukaku to Everton back in 2014 during his time at Chelsea, has been reportedly keeping a close eye on both Lukaku and full-back Seamus Coleman over the last few months.

Man United fans were quick to welcome the prospect of securing Lukaku’s signature over the summer, with some suggesting that Wayne Rooneysupposedly set on leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season – could head the other way as part of an exchange deal.

Mourinho will be consciously aware of his power in this situation: the Portuguese, backed by an astronomical bank balance, has the ideal bargaining chip in Rooney – no longer needed at Old Trafford but indeed heavily desired by Ronald Koeman. On the other side you have Lukaku, who has, it should be noted, expressed discontent with his predicament at Goodison Park before. And one would suspect that greater horizons lie ahead for a man with 100 goals for club and country to his name at the age of just 23.
