Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists Jose Mourinho is the perfect manager at Old Trafford.

The big Swede helped Mourinho during their time together at Inter Milan in 2008-09 which resulted in Serie A glory and they were reunited after his record-breaking years at Paris Saint-Germain.

Even though he’s now 35, he’s silenced critics in England who believed Zlatan would not be able to cope with the intensity of the Premier league as he’s scored 26 goals across all competitions.

Speaking about the situation at the club, Ibrahimovic was full of praise for Mourinho’s impact.

“Manchester United are a challenge. The challenge to change the history of a club that already had a great history in the past,” he said.

“In order to raise my level, I had to come to England and prove to everyone what I could do. If I can win in a situation like this, it means I’ve done my job well.

“Plus I already knew Mourinho and what he wants. He tells you things to your face, if you’re not doing well and must give more.

“He manipulates you so that when you are on the pitch you give 200 per cent. I needed that at my age.

“I could’ve gone to China and put my feet up, but I need a challenge that will motivate me. The Premier League has a lot of fans and you need to keep up a certain tempo.”

He signed a one year deal at Old Trafford, containing the option of another year, and both parties have already talked about extending his stay following an impressive start.

Zlatan has been heavily linked with a move away, but he confirmed he hasn’t signed a new deal yet as he wants to ensure he has what it takes to perform at the best of his abilities.
