Rio Ferdinand believes Everton should sell Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window as the look to cash in the maximum transfer fee possible.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a summer move after refusing to sign a new deal as talks broke down over a Champions League clause.
Express Sport claim Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing the Belgian as he’s been valued at around £75million by Everton manager Ronald Koeman.
Speaking about a new deal, Ferdinand claims he should join his good friend Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.
“I don’t see him staying because if [his contract] goes down to a year then the price tag goes down,” he said.
“I think they’ll cash in this season because he’s made it apparent he wants to leave. His agent doesn’t mess about.
“More importantly he’s a guy who’s best mates with [Paul] Pogba. He’s seeing other friends and other players from the Belgium team go on and win things.
“He wants a step up and he wants to be part of that, he wants to be part of the conversation.”
He has two years left on his deal at Goodison Park, but Ferdinand is right in thinking Everton should look to get the best possible deal as Lukaku refused to sign a new contract.
