Alba, who arrived at the Camp Nou in 2012, has reportedly reached an impasse with Luis Enrique – who omitted the Spaniard from recent games against Paris Saint Germain and Atletico Madrid – this season.
The 28-year-old, according to the report, is open to a move to Old Trafford over the summer, expressing a fondness of Jose Mourinho and his current squad.
But according to M.E.N‘s Rob Dawson, Alba will wait until discovering the next Barcelona boss before making a decision over his future.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Mourinho, in spite of a promising pre-season, has started to lose faith in Shaw’s ability to consistently serve as a reliable first choice option at left back going forward. The youngster, for all his ability, clearly doesn’t espouse the attitude demanded by the Portuguese for that role, with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young serving as far preferable models when it comes to pin-pointing the right mental approach.
Alba’s introduction, therefore, would make perfect sense: strong levels of experience, an illustrious trophy cabinet and, perhaps most important, a renewed desire to demonstrate his worth following a difficult few months under Luis Enrique.
