Manchester United are closing in on a move for Antoine Griezmann as they are currently leading the race for his signature, according to reports in France.
The Frenchman has played down any move away from Atletico Madrid in recent weeks, claiming he was happy with his role in the team and Diego Simeone’s decision to stay at the club.
There have been plenty of reports linking him with an Old Trafford move, but L’Équipe suggest his camp are moving more in favour of a summer departure.
Griezmann’s relationship with Paul Pogba has strengthened in recent months and they believe this gives Man United an advantage as he’s set to decide his career at the end of the season.
At 26, Griezmann would be an incredible addition at Old Trafford and as Simeone has recently stated, a move could go through if any club activate his release clause which is said to be around £100m.
He’s contracted until 2021 but Atletico are unlikely to delay a move if they know he wants to leave as they’ll be able to earn a massive fee from his sale.
