Wes Brown: Paul Pogba will redeem himself at Manchester United

Wes Brown insists Paul Pogba will redeem himself at Manchester United following a mixed start to the campaign under Jose Mourinho.

Man United made Pogba the world’s most expensive player in the summer following his move from Juventus, but he’s come under heavy scrutiny for some of his performances.

He’s been continuously compared to his price tag at Old Trafford and many fail to actually realise what he actually offers, as he completely dominates games and midfield battles but gets criticised for not finding goals.

Speaking about the Frenchman, Brown claims the good displays will come.

“I know a lot of people say all the other stuff is getting to him a little bit, but I don’t necessarily think it is,” he said. “I’d just be advising him to get on with his football. Everyone has their own lives out of football and that’s just the way it is. Obviously people are highlighting it a bit more because of who he is.

“He joined for a lot of money and we haven’t seen his best form yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before he starts to deliver. People are talking about his lifestyle off the pitch too much. But what counts is on the pitch and I’m sure he will produce good performances soon.

“It’s very difficult because the other teams [competing for top-four] have very strong teams and are doing very well. United have done well in catching up and will now have to keep their fo- cus and keep everyone fit.

“They haven’t been getting beat and perhaps they could have done with better results at home. They also have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League if they win the Europa League and that will be massive for them. Jose won’t take that competition lightly and now he will push to win that.”

Pogba is an exceptional talent, but to believe he’d be a finished product at the age of 23 is ridiculous.

He has plenty of time to go on and become a top player at Old Trafford and the fact that he’s already considered world-class just goes to show his potential to take control of the midfield area for the next decade.
