International round-up: Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford excel, Daley Blind struggles

by Leo Nieboer

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Expertly skipped into the box before stroking home Armenia’s opener against a rigid Kazakhstan side in the second half and dictated the tempo going forward all evening.

Marcus Rashford: Came on against Lithuania with 30 minutes left and injected life into an otherwise flat attacking display, completing more dribbles (7) and creating more chances (7) than any other England player. Simply sensational.

Eric Bailly: Produced a powerful, composed performance during Ivory Coast’s 2-o win over Russia. Gave the home side next to no room going forward.

Daley BlindDisplayed his usual tidiness on the ball at left back but struggled to deal with the lively Stanislav Manolev on a night that saw his father Danny receive his marching orders after presiding over another galling defeat.

David de GeaHad very little to do in a game that saw Spain dominate possession against Israel. Could do nothing about Lior Rafaelov’s sweetly hit late consolation strike.

Marouane FellainiProvided plenty of muscle in midfield alongside Axel Witsel and Radja Nainggolan but couldn’t offer much momentum going forward as Belgium struggled to break down a resilient Greece side. Came off after 66 minutes with a toe injury but will recover in time for Saturday’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.
