Manchester United place €25m asking price on full-back Matteo Darmian – report

Manchester United have placed a €25m asking price on full-back Matteo Darmian as Inter Milan have made an approach for his services, according to reports.

He’s previously been linked with Inter as they were interested in signing the versatile defender after he failed to make an impact on the first-team at Old Trafford.

Darmian has been hampered by a list of injury problems and has only made 18 appearances between the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup this season.

He’s contracted until June 2019 but Inter director Piero Ausilio has allegedly held meetings with agent Giovanni Branchini to lay the groundwork for a summer switch.

It’s a shame because following his €18m move to the Premier League in 2015, Darmain was absolutely incredible as he picked up the Player of the Month award during his first month at the club.

However, he’s been held back with injuries and hasn’t been able to replicate his form since then as he’s also struggled with consistency since Antonio Valencia knocked him out of his natural position.

Fans are aware of what he’s capable of but he hasn’t been performing and it looks like we could be approaching the end of his short United career.
