Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic insists Eric Bailly has the potential to become a great Premier League player.
After a spectacular start to life under Jose Mourinho, he was unlucky enough to pick up a knee injury in October, only recently returning to the starting line-up.
He’s quickly made himself a fan favourite at Man United, being voted United’s Player of the Month back in August and there’s no doubt he has an incredible future ahead.
Speaking of his talent, Vidic claims Bailly has what it takes to cement his place in the first-team and become a great player.
“Eric Bailly started really well with a steady two or three months,” he said. “Then he was unlucky with injury and the African Cup of Nations.
“He’s aggressive, he has potential, he’s young and he likes to defend. He has the qualities to go even further.
United have struggled to find a solid centre-back partnership in recent times due to injuries and poor form, especially with others around him struggling to keep fit.
He’s failed to build up any consistency in a pairing like Vidic managed with Rio Ferdinand, and it’ll be essential for Mourinho to lock down a starting back four, either with players stepping up or with new recruits in the summer transfer window.
