Nemanja Vidic insists Manchester United players must believe they can get back into the Champions League this season under Jose Mourinho.
The side have endured a mixed campaign in the Premier League and although some results have made the task at hand much harder, they still sit within touching distance of the top four.
Mourinho guided Man United to the EFL Cup earlier in the season and is now in the Europa League quarter-finals as another way to qualify for Champions League football.
Speaking about the situation, Vidic claims it’s an important time of the year as players must be ready for a busy schedule of fixtures.
“To build something doesn’t come in 2 days. Mourinho has been in charge of big teams and won trophies in different countries. You have to be satisfied with the progress this season,” he said.
“We have a chance to get Champions League and the players should believe that.
“It is the most important time of the year and sometimes the players are tired because there are so many games.
“You have nine months of every match being important.
“You need motivation and a good spirit.”
Man United have kept their options open so far but Mourinho has claimed that he could be set to prioritise the Europa League if the side continue to drop points.
With the Portuguese boss facing an injury crisis, hopes are he can continue to rotate the squad and keep his players fit.
