Javier Hernandez has reacted to comments from Jose Mourinho claiming he would’ve scored 20 goals for Manchester United this season.
He left Old Trafford last August after becoming surplus to requirements under Louis van Gaal even though he had scored 37 goals in 103 appearances for the club.
Since then, he has joined Bayer Leverkusen, having also impressed on loan at Real Madrid and has rediscovered his impressive goalscoring form in the Bundesliga.
He liked a tweet on Saturday from a fan who saw the irony in Mourinho’s claims.
His incredible form in front of goal, combined with United’s failure to remain clinical in front of goal led to Mourinho’s comments where he suggested the 28-year-old would be awarded the Golden Boot.
He’s recently become the joint all-time leading goalscorer for his country and while many believed he should have never been sold, it was hard to determine his place in the squad at the time as he had failed to perform in the Premier League.
United have relied too heavily upon Zlatan Ibrahimovic this season as he’s scored a majority of our goals and what we needs is for others in the squad to step up and take some of the pressure of the big Swede’s shoulders.
