Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis has insisted that Antoine Griezmann will remain at the Vicente Calderon over the summer amid speculation of a potential move to Manchester United.
The Frenchman has noted on several occasions that, contrary to reports pointing towards an impending move to Old Trafford, he was happy under Diego Simeone.
Teammate Saul Niquez refused to confirm that the Frenchman would remain at Atletico over the summer but noted that the striker appeared content in Spain.
But Luis, speaking earlier this week, was far more concrete on the subject of Griezmann’s future.
“We do not have to say anything, everyone is sure he will stay,” he said.
“Week in, week out he gets better, the man is a genius and I can see why he is being linked with winning the Ballon d’Or.”
It is important for Man United fans to realise that, as things stand, there is no chance of Griezmann moving to Manchester this summer.
The 25-year-old has repeatedly made it clear that he has no desire to move elsewhere this summer; his last response to such speculation, in fact, was especially prickly. And Diego Simeone, in turn, has expressed no desire whatsoever to let his leading goalscorer leave any time soon.
