Ander Herrera will be offered a new £120,000-a-week contract at Manchester United, according to reports.

He has emerged as one of Jose Mourinho’s most important players this season and was able to prove just how important he is for the side against Chelsea as he found a vital assist for Marcus Rashford and then scored a crucial second goal as he marked Eden Hazard out of the entire game.

The 27-year-old has been key at Old Trafford even though there were initial reservations about how he would fit into the side once the Portuguese boss took over.

Man United are said interested in rewarding Herrera with a new contract following his impressive displays and are set to open talks with his representatives before the start of next season.

There’s just over a year left on his current deal which he signed after a move from Athletic Bilbao for £29million in the summer of 2014 but there is an option to extend it by another 12 months.

He’s been a vital player this season and it’s great to finally see him receive the role he deserves after previously failing to establish himself as a first-team player at Old Trafford.
