Manchester United fans were disappointed to hear that Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would not play again for the rest of the season after both suffering cruciate knee ligament injuries.

Ibrahimovic landed awkwardly when challenging for the ball during the Europa League quarter-final second-leg win over Anderlecht and was forced off the pitch while Rojo was replaced on 23 minutes after colliding with a visiting player.

They’ve both played vitals roles this season at Old Trafford with the big Swede currently United’s top scorer this season, with 28 goals and Rojo cementing his place at the heart of Mourinho’s defence.

Here’s what fans on social media had to say about their injuries.

Zlatan joined the club on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain last summer but is yet to agree on an extension to his one-year United deal which will be difficult following his new injury.

Enduring cruciate knee ligament injury is almost career-ending and the 35-year-old will have to work incredibly hard to get himself ready once again, but if there is one man that can fight back, it’s Zlatan.

With Rojo also injured, Mourinho will have to do some work in the summer transfer window to strengthen his squad.
