Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made it completely clear to Manchester United fans that retiring after suffering a double cruciate ligament injury is simply not an option for him.

Ibrahimovic, 35, faces up to nine months on the sidelines following the injury he got in Man United’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht on Thursday and questions were immediately asked over whether he would be able to return from such a big injury given his age.

While it isn’t yet known whether Ibrahimovic will physically be able to return but one thing is for sure – Zlatan will not be giving up mentally any time soon.

Writing on his official Instagram page, Ibrahimovic said: “First of all, thank you for all the support and love.

“Its no news I got injured so I will be out of fotball[sic] for a while.

“I will go through this like everythings[sic] else and come back even stronger. So far I played with one leg so it shouldn’t be any problem. One thing is for sure, I decide when its time to stop and nothing else. Giving up is not an option. See you soon.”
