Jorge Mendes tells Real Madrid Manchester United are open to selling David De Gea – report

David de Gea‘s agent Jorge Mendes has told Real Madrid that Manchester United are open to selling David de Gea over the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Spaniard was on the verge of a move to the Bernabeu back in 2015, only for the deal to collapse during the dying seconds of the transfer window.

Zinedine Zidane has reportedly reignited interest in De Gea over the last few months following an unimpressive campaign from current Madrid first choice keeper Keylor Navas.

And according to Football Espana, Mendes – also an agent for Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo – has informed Madrid that Man United are willing to let De Gea leave this summer.

History dictates that United will not let the Spaniard leave without a fight. They will, without question, expect something in return from the Spanish side.

The two clubs have not enjoyed the best relationship over the past few years, but Mourinho and Zidane could indeed work towards a deal that benefits both parties this summer. A swap deal involving De Gea and James Rodriguez is reportedly on the table, with Raphael Varane also serving as a potential bargaining chip.

Seeing either Madrid star arrive at Old Trafford over the summer would, at least from my point of view, would be worth the sacrifice of De Gea.
