Rio Ferdinand explains what Manchester United must do next

Rio Ferdinand has explained what Manchester United must do next following their 0-0 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s men, mainly through Marcus Rashford, troubled the hosts on the counter-attack during the opening stages but spent the second half camped in their own half as Manchester City mounted an onslaught.

The Portuguese can take confidence from what was a formidable defensive display but will have something of a selection headache for Sunday’s clash with Swansea City after Marouane Fellaini was sent off for a head-butt on Sergio Aguero with seven minutes remaining.

Ferdinand took to Twitter at full time to encourage his former side to move on and focus on the upcoming encounter with the Swans this weekend.

The game against Paul Clement’s men will feel like a painfully quick turnaround for Mourinho’s men. Man United have now played eight games since the start of the month and, with injuries and suspensions continuing to mount, they will have to dig deep on Sunday.

Many players that started at the Ethiad will have no choice but to feature again, before probably being called upon once more for the clash with Celta Vigo next week.

This was always going to be a gruelling month for United and it won’t get much easier over the next few weeks – a period that will illustrate who possesses the mettle to thrive during a gruelling end-of-season climax.
