Jose Mourinho has explained his Manchester United team selection against Swansea City, claiming he has to try rotate players in the Premier League and the Europa League.

The Portuguese boss made four changes to the starting line-up in an attempt to keep his players fresh as Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard were in the squad.

Man United face Celta Vigo on Thursday in the Europa League semi-final first leg and must field a strong team as they’re currently favourites to win the competition.

Speaking about his squad, Mourinho opened up about the players he included.

“We are rotating players,” he said.

“We are trying to rotate. We don’t have many to do it.”

“Rooney, Ashley Young, Lingard, and Luke Shaw didn’t play the last match.

“We have four fresh players to try and compensate the fatigue of some others.

“Axel is already four, five, six matches on the bench with us.

“Scott is the fist time. For them it’s a good experience.

“Even if they are not on the pitch it is always a good experience. We try to get the kids we think are better to give us a hand.

“We need everyone, Mata is coming back. It’s a good effort to be back as soon as possible. Paul (Pogba) will be ready for the next match. We fight with everything we have.”

Juan Mata was finally available after missing eight games through injury and youngsters Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay were also named on the bench.

The Portuguese boss won’t be pleased with Luke Shaw‘s new injury with plenty of players already ruled out but he’ll have to do his best to keep the rest of the squad fit.
