Manchester United fans were quick to vent their fury towards Wayne Rooney following his woeful display during their side’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City in the Premier League.
The captain, with Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini both unavailable, was handed a rare start at No.10 against the Welsh side.
But in spite of putting Man United ahead from the spot on the stroke of half time, the 31-year-old looked dreadfully out of place, seemingly unable to match the tempo of the game.
United fans didn’t hold back when it came to criticising Rooney for what was another lethargic, painfully substandard showing under Mourinho.
Rooney looks like an ex-pro in a Soccer Aid game getting annoyed because Ben Shephard and the lad from JLS are skinning him every time

Wayne Rooney: absolutely idiotic.

Would someone like to explain to Wayne Rooney that this is the Premier League and not Soccer Aid?

Rooney should've been hooked half time.
The penalty spared him.

Rooney recently insisted that he still had plenty to offer at Old Trafford – that, contrary to the opinion of many, he could still function at this level.
His display against Paul Clement’s side, however, was perhaps the clearest sight yet of a man miserably out of his depth at United, visibly and painfully unable to match the tempo of either Swansea or indeed his own team.
Watching Rooney struggle in this way is agonising for any United fan. There was a time, after all, when the Englishman was the throbbing heartbeat of this side. But those days are well and truly gone.
