Luke Shaw will see a specialist to assess severity of ligament damage in his foot

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is set to visit a specialist to assess the severity of ligament damage sustained in his foot.

After recovering from a double leg break last season, many expected him to bounce back this campaign under Jose Mourinho, but he’s struggled to establish himself as a first-team player.

He’s worked hard for his place in the side in recent weeks but was forced off early in Man United’s 1-1 home draw against Swansea City on Sunday.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Simon Peach claims Shaw is yet to determine how long he’ll be out of action.

Multiple sources have claimed he will be left sidelined for the rest of the season as he won’t be able to make it back in time for our last game of the campaign.

Mourinho insisted he was expecting a big injury for Shaw as he had to go off so early in the Swansea clash and it’s not looking great for the Portuguese boss with many first-team players ruled out.

He’s already without the likes of Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah in defence and it’ll be very difficult to overcome the busy schedule of fixtures without a settled backline.
