Sergio Romero agrees deal with Inter Milan – report

Sergio Romero has a two year deal with Inter Milan lined up ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports from Italy.

The Argentine was brought to Old Trafford by Louis van Gaal on a free transfer back in August 2015; his contract expires at the end of next season.

He has featured as Jose Mourinho’s first choice option in the Europa League, making 14 appearances in total and claiming nine clean sheets.

But according to Football Italia, a potential move to Italy could be on the cards for the 30-year-old.

Romero’s resurgence under Mourinho this season has, perhaps somewhat understandably, dipped slightly under the radar, with many other notable changes to the side developing as well.

But one ought to acknowledge that Romero, in the space of less than a year, has gone from being a quivering liability to a confident, ebullient stalwart between the sticks at Old Trafford.

News of a potential departure, however, makes sense: he is, after all, approaching the latter stages of his career and, as Argentina’s first choice goalkeeper, will feel like he can secure a first choice place at another club following what has been an extremely productive season at Man United under Mourinho.
