Axel Tuanzebe, Matthew Willock and Scott McTominay training with Manchester United’s first-team

Axel Tuanzebe, Matthew Willock and Scott McTominay have all been training with Manchester United’s first team ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash with Celta Vigo.

Willock, who has enjoyed a strong season in midfield for the reserves, received a place on the bench for Man United’s 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion; McTominay, a striker, found himself on the bench during last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City.

Tuanzebe has been seen at Carrington with United’s first team for some time and made his senior debut from the bench back in January during a 4-0 FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic.

The youthful triumvirate were all amongst the first team ahead of the trip to Galicia.

Jose Mourinho, with seven major injuries to contend with, finds himself in crisis mode when it comes to personnel and, much like Louis van Gaal at various points during his time at Old Trafford, may have to call on youth as a result.

It is unlikely that Willock and McTominay, who have both enjoyed promising campaigns with the youth set-up, will be thrown in at the deep end at this particular time. This is, after all, the semi-final of a European competition.

But Mourinho may have little choice when it comes to Tuanzebe: United, with Eric Bailly now unavailable, have no fit recognised centre backs aside from the 19-year-old; a baptism of fire could indeed be on the cards for the youngster.
