Jose Mourinho has confirmed David de Gea will return in goal for Manchester United this Sunday for our trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal.
De Gea was left on the bench in Man United’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo as Sergio Romero kept his place in goal which he has done all season long in the Europa League. He vindicated his selection with an excellent performance as well.
But De Gea remains Man United’s first choice goalkeeper and will come straight back into the team on Sunday.
“I don’t like to say this competition is for that goalkeeper, this competition for another one,” Mourinho said after Celta Vigo.
“I don’t like that complete separation. So Sunday plays David.”
There are rumours already circulating around De Gea and his future at Man United next season and whether or not he’ll be playing for Real Madrid instead but for the time being De Gea will be focused on finishing this year on a high in every competition.
The last time De Gea played at the Emirates for United wasn’t a game to remember when we were blown away in the first half but it’s a different looking United side heading to London on Sunday and a free-falling Arsenal help us in that respect.
Mourinho will definitely have to rotate his squad in the next three games because with Celta Vigo next Thursday he’ll want his strongest team but we’ve got to negotiate that around ties with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. As for Sunday, one player we know will start is De Gea.
