Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-0 Ajax

by Sam Peoples

JSergio Romero 7: In control of everything that came towards him. Well done Sergio. Distribution superb too.

Matteo Darmian 8: Brilliant performance. Darmian has grown into this season so well, tonight was testament to that.

Daley Blind 7: Reading of the game typically superb.

Chris Smalling 8: Strong headers to start. So many doubters ahead of the game, timing was brilliant tonight. Arguably man of the match

Antonio Valencia 7: Excellent game from him. Boss. A real powerhouse.

Ander Herrera 7: The whole game his intensity made a real difference in midfield. Arguably our most important midfielder.

Paul Pogba 8: Bossing the midfield. Deserved goal. Two goals in two games following the passing of his father.

Marouane Fellaini 7: Ajax didn’t know how to defend against him.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 6.5: Poor. Yellow card. Could have gone off at half-time but turned up with the all important second goal. Wonderful take.

Juan Mata 7: Wonderful decision to start him. He made the difference so much in United keeping the ball in that area of the pitch.

Marcus Rashford 6.5: Tough first half for him. United kept knocking balls long but he didn’t have much luck.
