Gianluca di Marzio has offered some further insight into Manchester United’s move for Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic.
According to Di Marzio, Man United are willing to pay €35m to Inter Milan but that falls way short of the €55-60m valuation they hold on him. Jose Mourinho has already met with Perisic back in March when he was in Italy watching Croatia during the international break and that is when talks between the clubs started, so this transfer has been in the making for a few months already.
Back in March, we covered the reports in a bit more detail:
The price is clearly going to a sticking point if Inter Milan want over €20m more than what United have initially offered. It would certainly be a big price to pay for a 28-year-old but if Mourinho really wants him then United will pay it.
Now, it looks like Mourinho is following through with his interest in Perisic which will come as welcome news to fans who are keen for United to sign a more natural wide player who doesn’t tend to cut inside like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata or Anthony Martial does.
