Ian Wright: Paul Pogba can become a top player at Manchester United

Ian Wright insists Paul Pogba has all the right attributes to go on and become a top player at Manchester United.

The Frenchman has been urged to ignore the off-field distractions as talks of his price start to subside, especially after he ended his first season back at Old Trafford on a high against Ajax in the Europa League final.

Pogba found the opening goal of the game in Stockholm and helped Man United get back into Champions League football ahead of next season, which had been the main aim of the club.

He signed for a world-record £89m deal from Juventus and Wright claims he will be a much-improved player once he focuses on his football.

“Paul Pogba is still one of the best midfielders in the world. He hasn’t proven it too much this season,” he said.

“He hasn’t done it often enough. There has been a lot of off-field stuff. It gives people an opportunity to have a go at him.

“Once he focuses on purely playing, he is going to be magnificent.”

He has often been criticised for some of his performances in a United shirt, however, those that watch United each week are aware of his influence in the midfield, as he dominates play and orchestrates the game.

Pogba is world-class at the age of 24 and there’s no doubt he has everything he needs to become one hell of a player at United.
