AC Milan are in a prime position to sign Manchester United and Chelsea target, Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
The 24-year-old has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks as he’s been heavily linked with a Bernabeu exit.
La Gazzetta dello Sport, claim Milan lead the race to sign the Spaniard as they are allegedly hoping to use around £52m of their £130m budget to lure Morata to the San Siro.
The Italian side were purchased by wealthy Chinese owners in April and they’re said to be looking to make their presence felt in the transfer market this summer.
Jose Mourinho has been interested in his services and was hoping to bring him to Old Trafford if Zinedine Zidane came calling for David de Gea this summer in a swap deal.
He’s made just 14 starts in the Spanish top flight, but has still managed to bag 20 goals across all competitions and with four years left to run on his contract, they will expect a substantial fee for his services after re-signing him from Juventus last summer for around £25m.
Morata has been surprised by his lack of game time this season and with United on the lookout for a new frontman, he could find a role at Old Trafford.
