Mino Raiola: Manchester United one of 11 clubs interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma

AC Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola has confirmed that Manchester United are one of 11 clubs said to be keen on securing the services of his client this summer.

Several reports have claimed that Jose Mourinho had expressed an interest in the teenage superstar in light of uncertainty surrounding David de Gea‘s future at Old Trafford.

Donnarumma made his senior AC Milan debut aged 16 and has just completed his second season as first choice goalkeeper at the San Siro, making 41 appearances in total.

And Raiola, the renowned agent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mario Balotelli, has noted that the Italian is in high demand.

“Gigio is the Maradona of goalkeepers,” Raiola said.

“He can only grow and he has to be left alone to grow in peace. He’s not a slave, nor a robot. There are 11 top clubs which are interested in him.”

Anybody who, at the age of 17, manages to play for both Milan and the Italian national side is a player worth looking at. I mean, just think about that for a second: 17 years of age, and here we are getting excited about the 21-year-old Josh Harrop scoring on his debut.

The Premier League presents a considerable challenge to any young goalkeeper; De Gea himself took just under a season to acclimatise, but Donnarumma’s enormous frame and imposing presence in the box, coupled with his considerable experience at the highest level for somebody his age, bodes well for the challenge of replacing the Spaniard if he does indeed opt for a move to the Bernabeu.
