Ian Wright has been full of praise of Eric Bailly’s impact at Manchester United, claiming he’s jealous Arsenal were unable to sign a defender as good as the Ivorian.
The 23-year-old was Jose Mourinho’s first signing at Old Trafford last summer after joining from Villarreal in a £30 million deal, however, looking back now it looks like a steal.
He was relatively unknown at the time of his transfer, and there were doubts he’d be able to perform at United, but he’s made an impressive start in England and has quickly become a fan favourite.
Speaking about his potential, Wright claims he could go on to become a club legend.
“You look at how good he is, everything,” he said.
“Pace, athletic ability, defending, reading, strength, you think to yourself: ‘yeah, you can see him being at United for the rest of his career’.
“And if he does leave United it’ll be Barcelona or Real Madrid. He’s that kind of player.
“You just have to think to yourself: ‘my god, what a find’.
“He’s one of those who make me quite jealous that Arsenal couldn’t find someone like him. It makes me jealous.”
Bailly has been an incredible signing at United and I can’t believe how well he’s done, especially at the age as 23 as he has so much time ahead to become a top player.
