Henrikh Mkhitaryan reacts after incredible performance for Armenia

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has expressed his delight after grabbing a brace during Armenia’s 5-0 friendly win over St. Kitts and Nevis on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was recently awarded with a first class medal of services to the motherland by President Serzh Sargsyan at a ceremony in Yerevan following his debut campaign at Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan claimed two goals in the first half as Armenia strolled past the Caribbean side, ranked 89th in the world, on Sunday afternoon in Yerevan.

The seven-time Armenian footballer of the year took to social media to register his delight at what was an important confidence booster ahead of his side’s World Cup Qualifier clash with Montenegro.

Mkhitaryan, much like George Weah and Ryan Giggs, will most likely go down as a national footballing hero, but one who never received a chance to play in a major international tournament and demonstrate his worth on the grandest of stages.

Just imagine if the 28-year-old was handed the chance to play for Brazil, the country whose footballing ethos is largely responsible for mesmerising talent we see today after Mkhitaryan spent four educative months in Santos when he was 14.

The end result would, I imagine, be poetic, like an actual artistic exhibition, but can expect Mkhitaryan, in actuality, to sustain his brilliant service to his home country for as long as he plays.
