The Belgian erupted onto the global footballing scene with a series of scintillating displays under David Moyes but found himself quickly consigned to the periphery at Old Trafford during Louis van Gaal‘s two year spell at the club.
He was subsequently loaned out to Sunderland upon Jose Mourinho’s arrival and dramatically failed to impress during a season that saw him claim just one goal.
And according to sources at ESPN, Man United will listen to offers for Januzaj this summer.
Mourinho’s keen interest in Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic tells you plenty about what sort of winger he wants to see at United next season: industrious, experienced, capable of providing product over flair. The Portuguese is after a more traditional winger following a season of seeing the likes of Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard fail to deliver in the final third.
And this, as you may have guessed, leaves Januzaj in a precarious and indeed perhaps terminal position: the 22-year-old hasn’t turned many heads since 2014 and will struggle, perhaps even more than a year ago, to embed himself in Mourinho’s plans this summer.
