Real Madrid are not looking to sign David de Gea this summer – report

Real Madrid’s pursuit of signing David de Gea this summer has come to an abrupt end according to reports coming out of Spain.

El Chiringuito television and Jugones la Sexta are both suggesting that Zinedine Zidane has informed Real Madrid he has every belief in Keylor Navas and doesn’t want to sign De Gea, to which the club has responded by giving Zidane full backing in his decision.

They even made a little snappy video to break then news on Twitter. Very nice of them…

This very much feels like a situation where you tell your friends you’ve dumped your girlfriend when in reality she is the one who dumped you, much to your disdain. Real Madrid wouldn’t pull out of a deal to sign the best goalkeeper in the world, somebody they have been chasing for years.

The reality is that United are standing firm on De Gea. Whether that means outpricing Real Madrid in their pursuit of him or simply making it abundantly clear he isn’t for sale, the reports are saying Madrid have moved on from the concept of signing De Gea.

Here’s hoping this is true. I don’t want De Gea to go anywhere and neither does any other United fan and if we can keep him as well as sign four top players then we’ll be in such a strong position to compete on all fronts next season.
