Torino President Urbano Cairo claims he could be forced into selling Andrea Belotti if a club overseas triggers his €100m release clause.
He claims he wants to try and keep hold of Belotti, however, if Man United chose to activate the clause in his contract, he’ll have no option but to sell.
Belotti has been massively linked with a move to AC Milan and Man United, although the release clause in his contract is a stumbling block.
Speaking about a potential transfer, Cairo would love to keep him at Torino.
“I’m not thinking about selling Belotti,” he said.
“Belotti’s my player, we only renewed his contract recently. Our objective is to keep him.
“After that, there’s a release clause that would force me to sell him, providing someone came in with €100m from abroad.
“We’ll see… I haven’t talked to him yet, he’s currently with the national team.
“We’ll see how things go, but our objective would be to keep him.”
He’s seen as an alternative to Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata after Man United had an offer rejected for the Spaniard.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out and the main aim now on signing a new striker after the cooled interest in Antione Griezmann, we could see either in a United shirt as Romelu Lukaku has also been lined with a United move.
